We put on this koha concert so we can continue to bring high quality orchestral performances to Hawke’s Bay audiences. Admission is by koha.

Bach Mass in B minor
Napier Civic Choir, with HBO, presents possibly the most iconic Mass ever written, Bach’s Mass in B minor BWV232.

HBO presents Beethoven, Schoenberg, and Vaughan Williams
Beethoven’s Symphony No.4 in B-flat major Op.60 is joined by Schoenberg’s Chamber Symphony No.2 Op 38 and ‘The Lark Ascending’ by Vaughan Williams and featuring violinist Yanghe Yu.
Beethoven’s fourth Symphony is possibly the least-known and least-performed of his Symphonies, so prepared to be delighted - it’s a masterpiece.

An afternoon of Scandinavian music ft. Gjeilo's Sunrise Mass
Napier Civic Choir presents a programme exploring the serenity of Scandinavian music including the famous Sunrise Mass by Ola Gjeilo. Accompanied by HBO. The orchestra will also perform Sibelius’ Romanze and Grieg’s Norwegian Melodies.

Tchaikovsky and Granados

We welcome violinist Jonathan Tanner to the stage alongside Musical Director José Aparicio for a wonderful evening of music-making to be enjoyed by all ages.

Carols by Candlelight
HBO are proud to present the community concert Carols by Candlelight in association with Project Prima Volta (and Jr.).
With a feast of carols and Christmas music, we are excited to announce this as a FREE concert, for all to enjoy the sound of a full symphony orchestra, choir, and soloists.
From Vaughan-Williams’ Fantasia on Christmas Carols, to Anderson’s Sleigh Ride, this concert will be a fun-filled family affair. Bring one and all, and enjoy a night out before Christmas on us!

In collaboration with the Napier Civic Choir, The HBO presents a very exciting concert of much loved classics. With soloist Anna Pierard. Stravinsky Pulcinella Suite, Mahler’s The Youth’s Magic Horn, and Beethoven’s 6th Symphony.
Mozart Requiem
Surrounded by mystery, Mozart’s Requiem and Don Giovanni have been linked by their dramatic power. In collaboration with the Napier Civic Choir, the HBO accompanies the choir for Don Giovanni excerpts and Mozart’s Requiem.
EDUCATE - Meeanee School
The HBO goes into Irongate school to host an educational concert of Peter and the Wolf. We will also be working with their string students, and students of Or-ches-trate!
Hawke’s Bay Arts Festival - HBO & Friends
The HBO is joined by ‘friends’ from around the country to present three landmark compositions for larger chamber ensembles – Strauss’ Capriccio for string sextet, Pärt’s Tabula Rasa for strings and prepared piano, and Mendelssohn Octet.

As part of the HB Art’s Festival, the HBO joins Festival Opera as their accompanying orchestra for Janecek’s staged opera: A Cunning Little Vixen. Also featuring Project Prima Volta.
